Honda scooters top user satisfaction charts

Models from the Japanese two wheeler giant Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) including Activa and Eterno, have topped the customer satisfaction index in the scooter segment, says a survey conducted by market reseach firm TNS Automotive. TVS Motors' Scooty Pep Plus topped the scooterette segment.

The Activa topped the ranking in the ungeared segment on the back of good performance on sales satisfaction and product design aspects. Hero Honda's Pleasure, which debuted at the top of the chart last year slips to second position, primarily due to a relatively poor performance on after-sales aspects. The Scooty performed well on the sales experience, product design and quality aspects.

Pradeep Saxena, senior VP, TNS Automotive, said: "The overall performance of the industry has not changed significantly over 2006 since the larger selling models have maintained their respective ratings whereas the drop in scores is significant for the low volume models".

The trend across genders remains that of last year with women consistently rating the products higher on satisfaction than their male counterparts. Comparing the companies, which manufacture motorcycles as well as scooters, Bajaj scooter customers are much less satisfied than its motorcycle customers. Hero Honda after defying this pattern last year follows suit with its motorcycle customers rating the company higher than its scooter customers.
