A leading urology and laparoscopy hospital chain on Thursday announced to invest Rs 120 crore in Uttar Pradesh in the next two years.
RG Stone Urology & Laparoscopy Hospital plans to set up 12-15 hospitals in the state with each having 40-45 beds.
“The new hospitals would be both green and brown field projects in the major towns of UP,” RG Stone country head (marketing) Baldev Raj told the media here.
Presently, the company is conducting a survey in UP to identify the specific areas, wherein it could foray now. He said all the projects would initially generate almost 1,500 local employment opportunities, which would only increase with time.
On pan-India basis, the hospital chain is targetting to set up 50 new hospitals with total investment of about Rs 500 crore.
The company currently has 15 hospitals/centres in the country and is a leading urological institute.

Raj said medical tourism in India was on the rise and about five per cent of the patients treated by RG Stone were from abroad, mainly Africa and West Asia.
Meanwhile, RG Stone will run medical vans in the rural areas of UP and Uttarakhand to creating awareness about urological disorders and the available medical interventions.
“These vans would give free medical consultation and distribute awareness literature. We aim to cover 30 villages every month, as the health awareness is quite low in this region,” he added.
The privately held company is mulling over making a public issue after 2-3 years depending upon market conditions and sentiments.
