Hospital Consultancy Corporation India Ltd (HSCC), a public sector firm that offers turnkey consultancy services in health, social and environmental sectors, is to take up major hospital projects worth over Rs 1,000 crore in at least five overseas destinations soon. |
The company is also to play a key role in implementing the healthcare infrastructure development programmes of the central government under its public-private-partnership (PPP) initiative. The PPP is expected to attract Rs 15,000 crore investments from the government with an equal contribution from the private sector. |
Confirming the development, V C Sharma, chairman and managing director, HSCC, said that his company was likely to take up the consultancy jobs to set up hospitals in Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Lao PDR, Sudan and Mozambique. All these hospital projects are to be funded by the Indian government. |
"We are India's largest consultancy firm in the healthcare services sector. We take up projects worth over Rs 200 crore every year and have over 100 assignments at any given point of time. HSCC's key strength is our expertise to set up tertiary care hospitals with over 500 beds size. We are presently implementing more than 26 large projects in India and abroad " Sharma said. |
The government had recently assigned HSSC the Rs 500 crore hospital upgradation project under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthay Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY). |
The project involves entire design and engineering, project management and procurement of equipment for medical institutes in Mumbai, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad. HSCC has also been shortlisted as a potential bidder to take up the task of setting up six AIIMS-like superspecialty hospital projects in the country. |
