HP focuses on Ayurveda to promote health tourism

Taking a cue from Kerala in promoting health tourism, the Himachal Pradesh government has decided to promote ayurvedic treatment ‘Panchkarma’ on a wider scale to to woo tourists.

Panchkarma is an ayurvedic treatment which includes body massage and steam bath.

Health Minister Rajeev Bindal, who returned from a tour of Kerala recently, has directed the ayurvedic department in the state to prepare a proposal for popularising the same in HP, Director Ayurvedic department R S Gupta said.

Gupta said as part of the plan, in addition to seven ayurvedic hospitals where Panchkarma facility is available in the state, 20 more hospitals would be added to the list.
