Haryana Power Generation Corp (HPGCL) will recover Rs 5 crore as repair cost of a turbine rotor in closed 300-Mw Yamuna Nagar thermal power plant from the developer Reliance Infrastructure (R-Infra), a company official said. "The HPGCL will recover the entire cost of repair (estimated at Rs 4.5 to 5 crore) from the R-Infra, which developed the project," the official said. The issue of closure of the power unit was even raised in the Haryana Assembly this month in which Haryana power minister Ajay Yadav was asked to explain the reasons behind the plant’s forced shut down. Haryana is losing 72 lakh units of energy per day because of the closure of Unit-2 of the Yamuna Nagar power project, caused by the breakdown of turbine rotor. Besides, it is also causing financial loss to HPGCL on account of plant shut down.
