Chinese telecom equipment maker Huawei Telecommunications has got security clearance from the ministry of home affairs (MHA) for its proposed expansion in Tamil Nadu. The company plans to set up a unit for electronics and telecom hardware near its existing facility.
When contacted, a company spokesperson said the company has not received any official comment from MHA and, hence, it will not be able to offer any comment. He declined to comment on how much the firm has invested in the state.
Huawei had submitted its application in December 2013, which was cleared after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to China two months ago. Following the security clearance from MHA, the file would now move to the commerce ministry where the business plan is expected to be finalised.
