Chinese telecom firm Huawei today unveiled Honor 7 smartphone with customisable software intelligence features and embedded panic button.
It also unveiled dust proof and water resistant digital wrist band, Honor Band Z1 with call reminder, SMS notification, calorie consumption tracker, calendar function and three day battery life.
"We are enthusiastic to introduce the Honor 7 in India today...We sold 20 million Honor phones in 2014, 40 million in 2015 and expect to sell 60 million in 2016," Honor International Business Vice-President Zhao Gang said.
Built on Google Android's Marshmallow, Honor 7 has 20 megapixel rear camera, 8 mp front camera with auto focus speed of 0.1 second, a back finger print sensor that unlock phone in 0.5 second and 3,100 mAh battery life. It has internal memory of 16 Gb and support external memory card slot.
"Our focus is India. We listen to our customers and the Honor 7 has been built to meet their expectation from a smartphone in day to day life," Huawei India, Vice President Sales for Consumer Business Group P Sanjeev said.
Honor 7 has integrated knock sensor in the phone which enables user to capture screen shot with double tap by knuckles and crop any part in any shape by moving knuckle around it.
The latest Honor smartphone is first device that will have embedded panic button which will send out alerts on phone number pre-loaded in the application at the time of emergency along with location details.
The Honor 7 will be available only on Flipkart in India from October 15 while the Z1 band will start selling later this month.
The Honor 7 smartphone is expected to give tough competition of Huawei's own Honor 6 plus smartphone that was launched in March this year and is selling for around Rs 26,000.
When asked about strategy to mitigate impact of Honor 7 on Honor 6 plus, Sanjeev said "Both the phones have different features. Right now we don't have anything to share on this (sale impact on Huawei 6 plus).
