The company, which launched the energy efficient technology at its eight plants, expects the technology to cut the costs by 30 per cent.
Ploughshare mixing technology eliminates the need for steam in soap manufacturing and is an improvement over the conventional Mazzoni Spray Drying process. The technology also reduces carbon emissions by 15,000 tonnes a year, around four per cent of their total manufacturing emissions.
"This technology developed by HUL reduces capital costs and product inventory and also brings down energy costs and consumption of energy along with reduction in emissions. It is a win-win situation, as it makes great business sense and great environmental sense," a company spokesperson said.
