Hyderabad-based Sreenidhi Institute of Science and Technology (Snist) has entered into an agreement with Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology to offer four-year degree courses in electronics engineering technology (avionics), airline management and airport management in India. The programmes will be offered at Snist's Institute of Aeronautics & Technology here. |
"Students will have the option of completing their degrees at Snist or Vaughn in New York. The course fee is Rs 1.5 lakh per annum, as against $25,000 in the US. The programme has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education," the Snist director, P Narasimha Reddy, said, adding that the Snist Aeronautics Institute was the first dedicated college to serve the country's aviation industry. |
The admission to the three courses would be based on the marks scored in the All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE). Snist and the Vaughn College of Aeronautics and Technology would evaluate applicants' scores in maths and English to determine whether the applicants would also be required to take a proficiency test conducted by the latter. |
About 25 per cent of the specialised programme would be taught by the Vaughn faculty and to that extent the American institute would share the fee collected from the students. |
The Vaughn College president, John Fitzpatrick, said the objective of the programme was to address the growing need for aviation workforce in India. The Snist founder, KT Mahi, said courses would commence from the current academic year. |
