Hyd jewellery fair to see 40% uptick in participants

UBM India, a part of the United Business Media Limited that organises fairs and exhibitions, is expecting a 40 per cent increase in the number of exhibitors at the fifth edition of the Hyderabad Jewellery, Pearl and Gem Fair (HJF), which is scheduled to be held from June 22.

The three-day event is expected to see the participation of around 120 exhibitors both from India and abroad, and an increase of 25 per cent in the number of visitors, retailers and wholesalers to 5,000 from last year.

“South India alone contribute 45 per cent to the total jewellery business in India. Of this, Hyderabad accounts for more than 30 per cent,” Kranti Nagvekar, group director of UBM India, told mediapersons on Wednesday.

 

“Our business is growing more than 30 per cent a year, and our strategy is to focus on the four south states this year,” Nagvekar said.

UBM India, which started its operations in May 2006, has branches in Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Hyderabad. It is planning to open office in Kolkata shortly. UBM conducts around 23 exhibitions a year across the country.

HJF, a B2B international exhibition, will act as a trading platform for the jewellery industry across the supply chain and fosters business avenues for the jewellers.

The HJF-2012 will showcase fine gold jewellery, diamonds, gemstones, pearls and other precious stone-studded jewellery. Besides, it will conduct workshops and seminars to educate the traders.UBM India has recently partnered eBay India to educate jewellery manufacturers and retailers on the current trends for selling online.

Under this partnership, UBM’s partner manufacturers and retailers will get a free three-month e-Store subscription, zero setup costs for e-commerce operations, ability to export directly to end-consumers across 39 countries and increase revenues to international consumers, she said.
