Leading car manufacturer Hyundai held a pre-launch display of its two upcoming luxury sedan models "Azera" and "Coupe" in Agra last week. The company plans to launch these cars in the Indian market by the beginning of 2007. |
Talking to media persons after inaugurating the first "World of Wheels" exhibition in Agra recently, C Park, general manager (sales), Hyundai Motors (India), said the company planned to develop India as an export hub, expanding its car-manufacturing capacity from 250,000 to 400,000 cars per year. |
So far, the company has exported 100,000 cars in the past years to Italy, Greece, Spain and the UK, while it has been present in the country for the past seven years. |
He said the four-wheeler market in India presented enormous business opportunities to auto-companies entering this market, and with the growing demand for cars, the consumers in this country were slowly graduating in terms of quality-consciousness, safety and ergonomics, apart from fuel economy. |
Keeping this fact in mind, the company was launching better and safer models that were comparable to Toyota in the premium segments, Honda in the mid-segment and Maruti in the compact segment. |
He said the company planned to organise such exhibitions in 34 other cities of the country, apart from Agra, in 2007 and that the Agra exhibition was the first in UP. |
