Hyundai Motor India on Saturday said it was recalling 2,437 Santa Fe premium sports utility vehicles, to replace the stop lamp switch for potential malfunction. The switch is mounted near the brake-pedal mechanism and activated when the pedal is depressed and released, the company said.
The replacement is being done on units manufactured between June 26, 2011, and September 26, 2013. Owners will be notified in phases for bringing their vehicles. The replacement will be done for free.
Car companies have been pro-active in recalling vehicles in cases of safety issues, since the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers initiated a voluntary recall policy in 2012.
