Hyundai unveils new SUV Creta

Company says it will also export the Made-in-India SUV

Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) today unveiled its new Made-in-India SUV Creta at its facility in Sriperumbudur, near Chennai.
 
The SUV comes with a “fluidic sculpture 2.0” design. The variants include a petrol 1.6 Dual VTVT and U2 1.4 CRDi and U2 1.6 CRDi VGT diesel engines.

"Hyundai’s strong vision for India is further strengthened with the Creta," said B S Seo, managing director & CEO, HMIL.

The company said it has invested Rs 1,000 crore in developing the product.

Creta will also be exported in other markets (not European markets), Hyundai said, adding that the localisation level would be around 90%.

Hyundai's SUV range currently includes the sports style i20 Active and the Santa Fe. The Creta will be priced in between these two models, the company said, without divulging the exact price range.
 

Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice president and division head - marketing and sales division, HMIL said that the company has set a target to sell 4.65 lakh units, including all the brands, in the local markets.

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) currently has nine car models across segments – Eon, i10, Grand i10, Elite i20, Active i20, Xcent, Verna, Elantra and Santa Fe. HMIL exports to around 85 countries across Africa, Middle East, Latin America, Australia and the Asia Pacific.
