Global technology major IBM on Monday said that India Software Lab (ISL), its product development centre in India, is developing solutions with an aim of contributing to the Digital India programme, in multiple areas.

The company's latest technology innovations can finds applications in multiple sectors like healthcare, education, finance and disaster management.

"We are going after the digital India theme," said, Kaushik Bhaskar, Vice President, India Software Labs, IBM India.

India Software Lab is one of the largest such centre for the company outside of North America, with presence in Bangalore, Gurgaon, Pune, Hyderabad and Mumbai.

The IT giant has unveiled a new solution in the education sector which enables personalised learning on cloud. It is already in dialogue with a few educational institutions on how to disseminate the course curriculum on the cloud.

Similarly, India Software Lab has created a new solution called the digital locker. This will provide dedicated personal storage space, linked to each resident's Aadhaar number.

The programme aims to enable citizens to share e-documents with government agencies thus eliminating the need for hard copies of notarized documents.

By sharing these documents through registered repositories, it would ensure authenticity of documents online, thus eliminating fraud and loss of important certificates and documents.

Bhaskar said the company is planning to introduce this digital locker solution with a financial institution in Karnataka, soon.

IBM has also introduced the mHealth solution for the community health workers called Apatani. This solution provides near-real time citizen health and logistics data hence reducing the response time during public health emergencies.
