To cater its customers in the coming festive season, ICI Dulux Paints launched Inspira, India's first ever four wall finish super premium paint, for the Punjab market at hotel Majestic Park Plaza. |
Speaking to Business Standard, Manish Bhatia, head (sales) of ICI India Ltd, said with the growing income levels in the country, a segment was emerging for elite products in India. |
"These consumers are spending more on their homes and lifestyle and want to stand out amongst their peer group as sophisticated individuals. This buoyant economic trend and growing economic levels has initiated high growth rates in the Indian paint market. The next five years shall see the paint industry to grow from the present Rs 5,000 crore to over Rs 8,000 crore. Even we expect that our total sales will jump by atleast 20 per cent in this fiscal," he added. |
Ludhiana also enjoys the status of big metro's like New Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai, etc, when it comes to the consumption of paints. |
"But still its less than the per person paint consumption of USA and the UK, where average paint consumption is 5 litres per person, while in India its around 700 ml per person. Punjab paints market size is around Rs 250 crore in organised and around Rs 125 crore in the unorganised sector,'' said Pushkar Jain, senior product manager of ICI India Ltd. |
Inspira is available in 20 shades. "Each shade is created by the interplay of two shades (basecoat shade and topcoat shade). Both the basecoat as well as the topcoat are available in 1 litre and 4 litre cans," told Munish Tandon, sales manager (Punjab) of ICI India Ltd. |
