Real estate major DLF which has submitted a revised proposal to the Orissa government, seeking a greater area for commercial development for its Rs 1000-crore Infopark project in the city may have to start construction work before the proposal gets the green signal.

The Infopark project is coming up on 54 acres of land alloted to DLF in the Infocity region of the city by the state government owned Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (Idco). Idco is likely to impose a precondition on DLF wherein the real estate major has to begin construction work on the Infopark project by April to facilitate approval of its revised proposal. “ DLF has submitted a revised proposal for the Infopark project, seeking greater space for commercial development within the 54-acre plot. We are examining the proposal but we want DLF to resume construction work by April”, a top Idco official told Business Standard.

It may be noted that a review meeting was held recently on the status of the DLF Infopark project. In the review meeting conducted by the state IT department, DLF had committed to resume construction work by April.

“ DLF's revised proposal is currently being examined by Idco. There is a possibility that the company may start construction work even before the approval of its revised proposal”, a senior official of the state IT department said.

In its revised proposal, DLF had a greater area for non-processing in its Infopark project as it was keen on setting aside a greater area for facilities like shopping malls and multiplexes.

DLF is understood to have resumed negotiations with a host of IT players- both large as well as the Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) for offering its IT workspace of international standards at its Infopark project.
