Idea launches new smartphone Ultra

Ultra will now be available across all major 3G markets

Idea Cellular Ltd, India's third largest mobile operator, Idea Cellular has now entered the 12.7cm (5") screen smartphone category, with the launch of Ultra. Priced at Rs 10,500, it comes with bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-fi, ensuring connectivity to its users at all times. Maharashtra is the largest 3G market for Idea. It has over 17 million customers in Maharashtra. Ultra will now be available across all major 3G markets.

This is the 12th Smartphone from Idea in the last two years, and the company has previously sold over 6 lakh devices in the 8.89 cm (3.5"), 10.16 cm (4") and 11.43 cm (4.5") categories, in the Indian market. Idea plans to retail the new Ultra through its own retail and service outlets across major 3G markets -Maharashtra & Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh, Kerala, Gujarat, UP West & East, and Haryana. Rajendra Chourasia, Chief Operating Officer, Maharashtra & Goa, Idea Cellular said, "Idea is the highest penetrated 2G and 3G network in Maharashtra & Goa with over 13,138 sites covering towns and villages.
 

We have been witnessing an ever-growing appetite for data amongst our over 17 million subscribers in the circle. We have strengthened our distribution channel for 3G devices and plan to sell the new ULTRA through over 1,000 outlets in the state."
