The Indian Direct Selling Association (IDSA), a self-regulatory and promoting body for the direct selling industry in the country, is aiming at a turnover of Rs 8,000 crore by 2010. IDSA, comprising 16 companies from the direct selling industry, has aggregated a turnover of Rs 3,110 crore so far. While a country like Mexico with a population of just 10 crore has a direct selling industry worth Rs 15,000 crore, the industry in India is worth only Rs 3,000 crore, Ankul Agarwal, chairman of IDSA, said. "We need proper legislation for establishing the identify of the direct selling industry in our country, which will help do away with fraudulent players in the market," he said. |
