iGate bags 5-yr Federal GSA contract

US-based IT firm iGate today said it has bagged a five-year Federal GSA Schedule IT contract.

The GSA Schedule contract is a programme in the US under which the GSA establishes long-term contracts with commercial firms to provide products and services to all federal, state and local government agencies.

The company has also been awarded the Mentor-Protégé agreement in collaboration with Landover, Maryland-based regulatory readiness firm Aitheras.

This was awarded by the Department of the Treasury and the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilisation (OSDBU).

The Mentor-Protégé programme is designed to encourage large business prime contractor firms to provide mutually beneficial developmental assistance to small businesses.

The deal size of both contracts has not been disclosed.

"These two contracts are important milestones in our endeavour to become a leading technology provider to the federal government. Our role as a 'mentor' to Aitheras will enables us to expand our business as we reinforce our commitment to support small minority businesses that share our space," iGate CEO Phaneesh Murthy said in a statement.
