Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) Delhi and Kolkata completed their final placements for 2008. The students were offered the highest annual domestic and international salary of Rs 25 lakh and $1,10,000, respectively. The average salary this year increased to Rs 10.1 lakh per annum when compared with Rs 9.5 lakh in 2007 and Rs 8.1 lakh in 2006. Over 100 companies showed interest in recruiting from IIFT, but only around 50 recruiters got a chance to make offers on campus. The students preferred taking up domestic profiles with investment banking and financial services being the major recruiters. The other sectors in demand were consulting and media. Some of the firms that visited the campus for placements include Lehman Brothers, Morgan Stanley, Citibank, Barclays, HSBC, UBS, Reckitt Benckiser, Colgate-Palmolive, Cadbury and Bharti Group. Munish Bhargava, corporate and placement advisor, IIFT, said: "It is a very promising trend to see a substantial increase in all sectors, especially in the FMCG and the banking sector. The niche in the trading sector continues. The highlight of this year |
