Hyderabad-based biotechnology company, Indian Immunologicals Limited (IIL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of the National Diary Development Board (NDDB), on Monday launched a new range of products in animal nutrition for higher productivity and fat content in dairy cattle.
The products launched were – Goudhara Shakti (rumen protected bypass fat, fortified with live yeast and herbal galcagogues), Goudhara (rumen protected bypass fat) and Gousac (live yeast powder).
The launch of these nutraceutrical products is consistent with NDDB’s National Dairy Plan, which seeks to enhance milk production from 100 million MT to 180 million MT in the next 15 years, largely through improved nutrition and improved genetics.
IIL will work closely with dairy cooperatives and organised dairies to help farmers benefit from these new technologies through latest management tools such as ration balancing, IIL stated in a press release.
Considering that nearly 60 per cent of the cost of managing dairy animals goes into feed for animals, this approach is expected to contribute substantially towards improving profitability of dairy farmers, who are mostly small and landless farmers with low purchasing power, it added.
