Imperial Auto sets up new facility at Chakan

Manufacturer of fluid transmission products Imperial Auto Industries has set up a new manufacturing unit at Chakan. The company has invested Rs 25 crore in this facility and this is the fourth plant in the western region. It has a multi-location manufacturing facility having a diversified product portfolio. Having a total head count of over 3000 employees Imperial Auto is likely to cross a group turnover of around Rs 700 crore in the year 2010-11.

Rajan Wadhera, Chief Executive, Mahindra & Mahindra Limited inaugurated the plant. Speaking on the occasion Wadhera, said, "We are glad to see that all our major suppliers like Imperial Auto are coming close to our Chakan plant, this will not only help us in saving on the logistics and inventory carrying costs but will also facilitate better control over the supply chain". He further added, "We have been encouraging suppliers to be part of our supplier's park, have a satellite unit or have a plant within the vicinity of our Chakan Plant and the response has been good. So far over a dozen suppliers have come to Pune of which six are the part of our supplier's park located within the Chakan plant premises."

 

Jagjit Singh, Chairman, Imperial Auto said, "This is our 4th plant in Pune and this will strengthen our ties further with Pune's auto cluster. We have invested over Rs 25 crore in setting up this plant. This plant will manufacturer fluid transmission products and will primarily cater to the requirements of Mahindra & Mahindra".

Apart from serving its clientele in India, Imperial Auto also undertakes exports for its international clients. It has an overseas warehousing capability and facility in the US and Europe. The company exports 25 per cent to US and UK of its total turnover.
