Impressive Apr-Nov performance by RSP in key production areas

Company recorded growth of 17.6% and 0.4% respectively over corresponding period of last year

Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) has registered best ever April-November performance in key production areas.

During this period, the plant produced 1.64 Million Tonnes (MT) of Hot Metal, 1.51 MT of Crude Steel and 1.46 MT of Saleable Steel, registering growth of 5.2%, 3.7% and 6.5% respectively over the corresponding period last year, RSP sources said today.

Besides, highest-ever production of Sinter (2.46 MT) and Plate Mill plates (0.32 MT) are the other highlights during the period.

By making 85,673 tonnes of Galvanised sheets and 44,826 Tonnes of CRNO steel in the first eight months of current fiscal RSP, a unit of the Maharatna company Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), also recorded growth of 17.6% and 0.4% respectively over corresponding period of last year.
 

During the month, Blast Furnaces produced 2.28 lakh tonnes of Hot Metal which is a growth of 15.4% over November last year while the Steel Melting Shops made 2.05 lakh tonnes of Crude Steel, a rise of 12.4% over the same period of last year.

The Rolling Mills zone also performed well, rolling out 2.1 lakh tonnes of Saleable Steel which is not only a rise of 10.5 per cnt over November 2012 but also the best ever figure for any month, sources said.

The major contributors in this success were the Plate Mill that made 48,932 tonnes of plates and the Hot Strip Mill that produced 1.58 lakh tonnes of HR Coils.

RSP's CEO G.S.Prasad has congratulated the employees and advised them to maintain the tempo so as to take the plant forward in the path of progress.
