India Earth plans glass processing plant in Chennai

India Earth Resources plans to set up a glass processing plant near Chennai at an estimated investment of Rs 22 crore.
 
The plant, which will come up in Citangi near Kanchipuram, about 40 km south of Chennai, will produce low-emission glasses, S Venkat Ramanujam, managing director, India Earth, told Business Standard.
 
The company has tied up with US-based glass manufacturer Glass Tech for machinery and technology.
 
The plant will initially have a capacity to produce 1,200 sq mt per shift. The facility will cater to the domestic as well as overseas markets, which includes countries in the West Asia. The products will be marketed under the 'Costol' brand.
 
The plant is expected to commence production by the end of this year. It is expected to generate direct job opportunities for 100 people and indirectly for about 400 people.
 
"We expect to generate a turnover of Rs 25 crore in the first year and Rs 80 crore by the end of third year," Ramanujam said.
 
India Earth Resourcesis engaged in export of granites, processed minerals, bauxite ore, mica, feldspar, dolomite, bentonite, construction materials and cement.
 
It also exports Indian agro produce like totapuri mango pulp and coconut shell charcoal. Annual sales stood at $10 million last year.
