India's refractory usage down 50%

 Panda today inaugurated the International Conference on Refractories Engineering, which is jointly organised by the Indian Institute of Refractories Engineers, Institute of Refractories Engineers (UK) in association with Visakhapatnam Steel Plant.

   
 On this occasion, he said that about 75 per cent of the refractory produced in the country was being consumed by the steel industry. He said that refractory producers were gearing themselves to provide value added services like design of refractories, maintenance repair and total refractory management for the usage of proper refractory and also reduce the cost of refractory consumption.  Panda said that in continuous casting, the country
