Two-wheeler maker India Yamaha Motor today reported a 29.76 per cent increase in total sales at 30,450 units in August.
The company had sold 23,466 units in the same month last year, India Yamaha Motor said in a statement.
The domestic sales rose by 16.22 per cent to 22,672 units in August 2010 from 19,508 units in the same month last year, it added.
During last month, the company exported 7,778 units as against 3,958 units in the year-ago period, a jump of 96.51 per cent.
"The Indian two-wheeler market is gaining momentum and Yamaha is gaining firm ground with strong presence across all the segments," India Yamaha Motor Chief Executive Officer and MD Yukimine Tsuji said.
The company is optimistic that its recent launches such as of SZ, SZ-X and YBR 125, will contribute to its growing sales numbers, he added.
"We will continue our focus on the strong marketing initiatives to further bolster our traction in the rural market too," Tsuji said.
