IndiaCan, a joint venture of Educomp Solutions Ltd and Pearson, today forayed into the North-Eastern Region with the launch of its first vocational training institute in Guwahati.
Speaking to mediapersons, Vinay Sharma, vice president of IndiaCan, said the focus would be on imparting vocational skills to the youth of the region in high growth industrial sectors like retail, IT-enabled services (ITes), sales, media and telecom.
He said that IndiaCan will look to partner various government initiatives for employment generation.
The company will set up 10 such institutes in the region, in places like Jorhat, Dibrugarh, Silchar, Tinsukia, Shillong, Aizawl, Agartala, by the end of this financial year and student intake at each centre will be around 500. Sharma said the institutes will have "state-of-the-art infrastructure and certified experienced faculty members who will focus on providing employment liked skills to the youth of the region."
IndiaCan, claimed Sharma, has tie-ups with leading companies like Religare, Aditya Birla Retail, Café Coffee Day, KFC, Costa Coffee, Spice Retail for placing students after the completion of their courses.
