Indian Bank to raise Rs 1,000 cr Tier 2 capital in 2010-11

Public sector lender Indian Bank today announced that it plans to raise Rs 1,000 crore worth of Tier II capital in one or more tranches in the current financial year.

Indian banks are required to maintain a minimum capital adequacy ratio, or core capital as a percentage of risk-weighted assets, of 9 per cent. Within that Tier 1 capital adequacy cannot be less than 6 per cent.
