Jain Irrigation Systems Ltd (JISL), the second largest manufacturers of drip irrigation in the world, will partner with Rwanda government for developing irrigation solutions for farmers of that country.
Jain irrigation has been working with small and marginal farmers of India and helping them bring more land under cultivation with less water by using micro-irrigation system.
"The company will offer the same model to Rwanda and Africa as a whole," a company release said today.
Rwanda, located in east-central Africa, is surrounded by the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda, Tanzania and Burundi.
A company team headed by director, marketing, Atul Jain, met Rwanda Prime Minister Bernard Makuze in this connection.
"We will work closely with Rwanda government for the development of agriculture by providing them solution of water management and will introduce adapted technology at local needs and proceed to knowledge transfer to Rwandan experts by training trainers," Atul Jain said.
Jain irrigation has a growing presence in the renewable energy segment and is the largest player of applications of solar energy in agriculture and rural areas.
