Nearly 40 Indian companies are expected to participate in the eighth 'Wire and Tube Trade Fair,' starting April 8, 2002, in Dusseldorf, Germany.
"As many as 22 leading companies of the Indian wire and tube industry from Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Faridabad, Ludhiana, Baroda, Secunderabad and Bangalore have already confirmed their participation in the fair," K C Damodaran, director of the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce (IGCC), told reporters here on Wednesday.
The chamber will help Indian companies with the setting up of pavilions, travel details, etc, he added.

Companies participating in the trade fair include the big boys of the industry such as Usha Beltron, Tata Steel and Hindustan Copper, B G Roy, regional director of IGCC, added.
The seventh exhibition this year had witnessed the participation of 1,700 exhibitors from 45 nations. Sixty-five per cent of these exhibitors were of international origin, German consul general in Kolkata, Wolfgang Seiwert, said.
The project director of the Dusseldorf exhibition, Friedrich Kehrer said the fair would provide Indian entrepreneurs an opportunity to explore new export horizons, seek technology transfers and see the latest machinery and innovative equipments in action.
He said the 'Wire 2002 Fair' would focus on wire, cables and glass fibre machinery, spring making technology and forming technology, while 'Tube 2002,' the world's largest fair of its kind, would showcase technologies in tube pipe production and processing as well as premium products of all types.
Germany is a world leader in hosting trade fairs, with six of the world's ten largest trade fairs held here.
The trade fair industry is very important to the German economy as exhibitors spend close to around 11 billion DM (Rs 220,000 crore) at the fairs, while the visitors spend around 7 billion DM.
Indo-German trade touched an all time high of Rs 18,000 crore in 2000-01. Roy expressed hope that the figure would touch Rs 20,000 crore soon inspite of depressed economic conditions around the world.
