Indian startups poised for a breakout

Paloma Ganguly Tech in Asia
NowFloats
The Hyderabad-based startup basically helps businesses create and manage their SEO optimized websites.  NowFloats calls itself a business site that gets you discovered online when you post content to it.

NowFloats was founded by Ronak Kumar Samantray , along with Jasminder Singh Gulati, Nitin Jain, and Neeraj Sabharwal in 2012.

The startup has investors like Mumbai Angels, Omidyar Network, and Blume Ventures.

Toppr
Mumbai-based Toppr aims at making the lives of engineering and medical college aspirants in India easier.

It was founded in 2013 by IIT Bombay grads Zeeshan Hayath and Hemant Goteti. Toppr offers online practice and test packages, but also foundation courses to school students. Over 7,39,000  students have enrolled for them so far.

The idea has appealed to Saif Partners and Helion Venture Partners.

ReGlobe
Got an old laptop to sell? Try ReGlobe. The Gurgaon-based startup wants to transform the way people sell their used gadgets.

Founded in 2013 by Nakul Kumar and Mandeep Manocha, it has sold 129,000 gadgets so far. What makes it tick? The promise of getting the highest price with the least effort, be it your tablet, or phone, or TV.

Bessemer Venture Partners and Blume Ventures think they are on the right track.

Jugnoo
Who would have thought it possible to rein in those temperamental, tuktuk-like three-wheeled auto-rickshaws of India? But that’s just what Chandigarh-based Jugnoo has been doing.

This auto e-aggregation platform was started by Samar Singla and Chinmay Agarwal in 2014 to make rides on the ubiquitous auto reliable and affordable. Auto-rickshaws can be booked on an app.

The drivers under its wing are given smartphones and trained. Jugnoo has spread to 22 cities.

Betting on it are SnowLeopard and Paytm.
