Indraprastha Gas net profit up 20% at Rs 48 crore

The company, a joint venture between GAIL, Bharat Petroleum Corporation and the Delhi state government, reported a net profit of Rs 48.16 crore during the March 2008 quarter compared with Rs 40.05 crore in the year-ago corresponding quarter. Turnover during the quarter rose to Rs 213 crore as compared to Rs 189 crore in the corresponding period last year, the company said in a statement.

 

Earnings per share increased to Rs 3.44 during the quarter from Rs 2.86 in the year-ago quarter. The company's share price on the Bombay Stock Exchange rose 1.92 per cent to Rs 119.20 on Wednesday even as the benchmark Sensex fell 1.75 per cent to 15,422.31 points.

The company's gas sales to vehicles grew 12 per cent to Rs 192 crore during the quarter while gas sales to households rose 27.7 per cent to Rs 22 crore.

In the full financial year, the company's net profit increased to Rs 174.45 crore, up 26.5 per cent from Rs 137.96 crore in the previous financial year. Turnover increased to Rs 810 crore from Rs 706 crore of 2006-07, higher by 15 per cent.

The company has also recommended a dividend of 40 per cent for 2007-08.
