An area of 13,000 hectares of non-agricultural land has been identified in Mysore, Hunsur and H D Kote taluks of Mysore district for industry purposes.
Revealing this at the inauguration of the two-day industrial adalat, conducted by the Karnataka State Small Industries Development Corporation, district industries centre joint director Shivashankar said entrepreneurs had come forward to set up automobile, automobile engineering, and other units in these areas.
In addition, 131 industry plots were developed and would be allotted next month through the single window agency, he said.
Following directions from the government to create a land bank for locating new industries, 13,000 hectares had been identified after a survey. Besides, another 4,000-5,000 hectares are in the process of identification, he said.
The department has received 355 new investment proposals in Mysore district, of which 140 have been cleared, he said.
Of the 355 new proposals, 60-70 investments relate to IT and BT. However, importance was being given for manufacturing industries, which could support small and medium industries in the region than service industries.
KSSIDC managing director N Sriraman said the corporation had developed industrial areas in Gundlupet, Chamarajanagar district and Chickmagalur district in view of increasing demand for establishing new industries.
