All 75 districts to be covered under Nivesh Mitra by next year.

The single-window industry-interface portal in Uttar Pradesh Nivesh Mitra has now mapped 60 per cent of the districts for facilitating online clearances to investment proposals.

In another 12 months, the government intends to cover all the 75 districts under the online platform of Udyog Bandhu, the state investment promotion agency implementing the project.

Besides, the government will ensure that all fresh proposals from the districts covered so far come from the online route only since manual proposals still continue to come.

“We are writing to the respective districts magistrates and concerned officials for the enforcement of standing orders regarding compulsory online filing of proposals,” state infrastructure and industrial development commissioner (IIDC) VN Garg told Business Standard here.

Earlier, 18 UP districts were already covered under the online clearance system, the government has now mapped 27 more districts in phase II taking the total count to 45.

The 27 new districts under its ambit are Allahabad, Azamgarh, Badaun, Baghpat, Bahraich, Bareilly, Bijnore, Bulandshahr, Ferozabad, Gorakhpur, Hamirpur, Hardoi, Jhansi, Kaushambi, Mainpuri, Mau, Meerut, Mirzapur, Muzaffarnagar, Pilibhit, Pratapgarh, Rae Bareli, Ramabai Nagar (Kanpur Dehat), Saharanpur, Shahjahanpur, Sone-bhadra and Varanasi.

Nivesh Mitra was introduced in July 2009 as a simple entrepreneur-centric web application enabling prospective entrepreneurs get online clearances with minimal ‘running around’ from various government departments in 18 districts. “The other districts would be included in the third phase”, Garg added.
