Infosys commits Rs 30cr to Karnataka govt

Software major Infosys today said it had committed Rs 30 crore to the Karnataka government in carrying out relief and rehabilitation in the rain-ravaged areas.

S Gopalakrishnan, CEO and MD of the firm said, "Rs 20 crore would come from the company and Rs 10 crore from the four founding members as individuals".

The donated fund was being largely used for construction of houses. With each house estimated to cost Rs one lakh, the company was expected to construct 3000 houses.

The company had also come forward with its employees volunteering their services to help those impacted by the floods in northern Karnataka.
