Infosys Limited will be setting up its second campus on 50 acres under the SEZ scheme in Technocity, Thiruvananthapuram.
An agreement to this effect was signed on Wednesday by HR Binod, senior vice president, Infosys, and KG Girish Babu, CEO of Technopark, in the presence of chief minister Oommen Chandy.
The company will invest over Rs 1,000 crore in the new campus.
At present, Infosys contributes more than 21 per cent to the total IT export of the state. This stood at Rs 608 crore of the total Rs 2,875 crore during the financial year 2010-11. The company in 2012-13 plans to hire another 3,500 engineers at it existing campus at Technopark Phase–II, thus increasing its exports to Rs 800 crore.
It plans to have over 1 million sft of built-up space and create employment for 10,000 engineers at the Technocity campus.
The possible export from this campus would be of the order of Rs 1,500 crore over the next 5-8 years.
Infosys has two development centres in Technopark Phase-I and Phase-II employing about 4,100 professionals. Starting its Kerala operations in January 2004, the company now has its own campus adjacent to Technopark, which forms part of Technopark Phase II special economic zone (SEZ).
