Delhi-based Insecticides India Limited (IIL) is planning to collaborate with an Asian multinational company to launch a patented pesticide product in the country.

“This will be a new generation product for the Indian farmers. We will bring the product to India by February-March 2011,” Rajesh Aggarwal, managing director, Insecticides India, told mediapersons here.

He said in India more that 25 per cent farmers still go for organic farming. “We would tap those areas as part of our expansion plan.” The company would come out with short-duration crops and promote tripple-cropping methods.

So far, IIL has developed 40 technology-based products and received 17 registrations from the Central Insecticides Board. “We are expecting another 35-40 registrations,” he said.

The company is planning to develop seven new pesticide technical products from its two new plants by March. Its fourth plant at Udhampur in Jammu & Kashmir would be operational from December and the fifth one at Dahej in Gujarat from February.

The agro-chemicals market in India is expected to grow to Rs10,000 crore by 2015 from the current Rs 6,500 crore, whereas the export market is set to double from the current Rs3,500 crore.

“We already have a good presence in north India and the focus now is to expand in southern states. We are planning to achieve a 7 per cent market share from the current 6 per cent in the Rs 2,000-crore southern pesticide market,” he said. Insecticides has 1,200 dealers and distributors in Andhra Pradesh.
