Technology solutions and software services provider Interra IT, is looking at opening new offices and is in a major management reshuffling drive, in order to ensure a 30 per cent growth year on year. |
The company is buying properties in Kolkata and is looking at new offices in various locations in eastern India to scale up operations. |
Speaking to Business Standard, Asoke K Laha, president and CEO of Interra IT, said, "With the rupee depreciating and salaries increasing, we have to increase productivity per employee. We do not intend to pitch a higher price from clients for our services, neither can we cut down on salaries because that will push attrition rate. So a thorough management reshuffling would be the only option." |
This includes entrusting employees with more responsibilities and helping them achieve higher targets within deadlines. |
It also includes re-deploying current employees into verticals that interests them from their current work portfolio. |
"We are looking at a 30 per cent growth year on year. We are getting bigger offers right now and so would require more manpower to handle our projects. Newer offices are required to enter regions where there are good engineering and technology colleges. Also, manpower and office space costs are lower in smaller towns and cities and so it makes more sense to set up offices in such locations," explained Laha. |
Interra IT is looking at opening offices in Durgapur, Bhubaneswar, Siliguri and Kharagpur. The plan is to have 50 employees in each of these centres. |
"We chose these locations for new offices because there are a lot of good engineering and technology colleges around these areas which will help us find the right team faster," Laha said. |
Interra IT recently bought 1 acre in Rajarhat to build a 800-people office. At present, it has about 80 employees at its office in Salt Lake, and plans to recruit 50 more by 2008. |
The company also has a 50,000 sq ft office in Noida which accommodates 350 employees. |
By 2008, the headcount at its Noida office will be taken to 450. |
At present, Interra IT handles contracts from US that range between $100,000 to $1 million per client. |
