To foray into power electronics in UP, Intex Technologies, among the fastest-growing IT hardware and electronics companies, announced the formal launch of Intex "Power Pro", a series of digital home UPS and batteries. |
Speaking on the occasion, Shio Thakur, National Product Group head (Power Electronics), said: "About 70 per cent of the total market for inverters is served by unbranded products and only 30 per cent is by branded ones. About 4 million inverters are sold annually in India, of which an estimated 400,000 units are sold in UP. This will help us to establish our brand here." |
Eight models of home UPS and three models of batteries have been introduced. These models belong to three series--Classic, Fusion and Platinum--consisting of 600 VA, 800 VA and 1,400 VA. |
Thakur said: "We will try to sell 18,000 units of invertors plus batteries for 2007-08, for eastern and western UP. Although we introduced the brand in November last year, today we are launching it officially. Since the time of its introduction, we have sold 3,500 and 4,500 units for the eastern and western regions, respectively." |
The company will cover almost 28 districts in eastern UP and 18 in western UP. At present, there are about 25 distributors for each region and a network of 500 dealers. |
"We are planning to cover at least four more districts in each region by the end of this month. Besides, we will venture into the car security system," added Thakur. |
With a target of 150, 000 units by 2007-08, Intex wants to get the top slot by 2008-09. The target for northern India is more than 60,000 units by next year (including 12,000 batteries). |
This is a step for significant addition to the firm's portfolio of more than 250 products in 22 categories, including PCs, Notebooks, TFT and CRT Monitors, DVD Players, Home theaters, MP3 and MP4 players, etc. |
