Intex Technologies (India) Ltd expects to spend Rs 10 crore on marketing initiative during the current financial year following its foray into the consumer electronics segment. |
Addressing a press conference, Narendra Bansal, managing director of Intex Technologies, said with higher disposable income in people's hands, the consumers electronics market was a growing segment. |
Intex Technologies diversified into consumer electronics last year. Prior to this, the company was into hardware and computer peripherals. |
The company clocked a total turnover of Rs 186 crore during 2005-06. Bansal said, "We expect to garner Rs 70 crore from the South this year as compared to Rs 43 crore recorded in the last financial year." |
Intex has about 110 distributors in South India. The company plans to increase this number to 170 during the current financial year. |
The growth drivers of the company are computer speakers, personal computers and UPS. Intex Technologies largely imports its products from its Chinese component manufacturing units. |
The company also has a plant in Jammu, which manufactures headphones, UPS, superwoofers. |
Bansal said the company would launch an MP3 player and a digital camera this year in the consumer electronics segment. |
