Investments pull down Fortis net profit by 15.2%

Fortis Healthcare India's consolidated net profit dipped by 15.2 per cent to Rs 29.3 crore for the third quarter ended December over the same period last year due to investments in new verticals and losses suffered by its diagnostic arm Super Religare Laboratories (SRL). It had posted a net profit of Rs 34.50 crore for the quarter ended December 2010.

Consolidated total income of the company rose to Rs 604.6 crore for the third quarter this year against Rs 371 crore for the corresponding quarter last year. Standalone net profit stood at Rs 25.9 crore against Rs 42.73 crore last year.

 

The company said it has absorbed a net loss of Rs 7.7 crore of its diagnostic arm SRL in its book which has been reflected in lesser profit for the period under review.
