IPL-3 grabs more eyeballs than previous editions

IPL-3 continues to maintain its lead over the last 2 seasons in TV viewership, according to TAM Sports. The average rating for the first 8 matches is 21 per cent and 9 per cent higher than the average ratings of the first 8 matches in season 2 and season 1 respectively.

The average TV rating (TVR) of the first 8 matches in this season was 6.23 (Cable & Satellite audiences aged 4 and above in 6 metros) while it was 5.16 per cent in the first 8 matches of the last season when the tournament was held in South Africa. However, the average of the seven matches following the opening match of the T20 championship, dropped to 5.95 per cent.

 

It was, therefore the first match that tilted the ratings balance this season with a TVR of 8.21 per cent. The opening matches of the first and second seasons had recorded a TVR of 6.95 and 5.55 respectively. TVR denotes the percentage of viewers watching the programme for a stipulated period of time.
