A day after five contract labourers were injured in firing by CISF (Central Industrial Security Forces) jawans at the Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) oil refinery site at Paradip, the situation continued to be tense with irate labourers staging agitation and paralyzing road traffic.

The stir by the labourers in protest against CISF action also stalled the refinery's construction work besides stopping loading and unloading of construction materials.

Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on the Cuttack-Chandikhole national highway as the protesters staged a road blockade for eight hours. The labourers organized the protest meeting at the IOCL project site, demanding fulfillment of their eight-point charter of demands.
