Iron ore sales for Q1 grew 5.83%: NMDC

The miner had sold 6.86 million tonnes in the same period last year

State-owned miner NMDC today said its iron ore sales grew by 5.83% to 7.26 million tonnes in the quarter ended June 30.

The miner had sold 6.86 million tonnes in the same period last year.

NMDC in a filind to stock exchanges said the iron ore production from its Chhattisgarh mines fell by 1.69% to 4.66 million tonnes. The company produced 4.74 million tonnes during the first quarter in the last fiscal, it added.

It, however, was able to increase production from its Karnataka mine to 2.07 million tonnes with a growth of 4.83% over last year.

The overall production stood at 6.83 million tonnes during April-June quarter against 6.81 million tonnes during the same quarter in FY13.
 

The company's shares were trading at Rs 99.85 apiece on BSE, down 3.29% during closing hours.
