J&K to set up Rs 6 cr centre for bat industry

J&K Industries and Commerce Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora today said that the centre would open up new vistas of exports for cricket bat industry of the state and added that over 12 lakh willow clefts would be seasoned annually.     

The project is being constructed by the Roads and Buildings Department with public-private partnership in technical consultation and provision of plant and machinery with process-cum-product development centre Meerut.     

 

Jora said the first unit of the project, spread over nearly a hectare of land with facilities of 50 chambers, 20 boilers and other accessories besides administrative block, would be commissioned within three months.     

Later, Jora visited Government Silk Factory at Rajbagh in the city and asked for proposal of modernisation of the existing unit.     

The officials told him that factory produces 50,000 meters silk clothes with revenue realization of Rs 2.5 crore per annum.
