The festive season has failed to cheer the utensil manufacturers in Jagadhri (Haryana) who have not registered any significant rise in sales in the season.

Jagadhri town, approximately 200 kilometers north of Delhi, constitutes 6 per cent of total aluminum utensil industry of India, has around 400 units of aluminum, brass and stainless steel utensil manufacturers.

Bharat Garg, president, Federation of All India Association and general secretary of Jagadhri Metal Association maintained although demand for utensil manufacturers had improved compared to previous months, it was not comparable to preceding years.

Normally during the festival season demand for utensil manufacturers rose by 30 per cent but this year the demand has risen by just 10-15 per cent.

Davinder Gupta, president, Small Scale Aluminum Utensil Manufacturers’ Association maintained fluctuating prices of aluminum was affecting the business of utensil manufacturers. With volatility in prices of aluminum, traders are finding it tough to do business.

Also the fact the industry was fast spreading its wings posed great challenge for the utensil industry in Jagadhri, Gupta said adding many new units had come up in last one year and in coming times the competition would be intense for the industry in Jagadhri.

Similarly Sumit Bansal, general secretary, Confederation of Commerce and Industry added that the demand for utensils somewhat had started slackening.
