Kolkata-based steelmaker, Jai Balaji Industries, has registered a net profit of Rs 46.30 crore in the quarter ended June 30, 2008, an increase of 96 per cent, due to new capacity additions in ferro alloy, blast furnace for producing pig iron and captive power.
Total income for the quarter was at Rs 470.74 crore, an increase of 86 per cent. The company has already commenced trial production for its sinter plant having a capacity of 0.6 million tonne and would go for commercial production soon.
The ferro alloys plant with a capacity of 0.25 lakh tonne and another 35 MW captive power plant at Durgapur were on schedule and would commence production during the year.
