Jaipuria Group plans to invest nearly Rs 500 crore in increasing its footprint in the education space over the next 5-7 years.
Shishir Jaipuria-led Jaipuria Group also has business interests in textile industry.
"We envisage investment to the tune of Rs 500 crore by 2022 in our different educational initiatives, including in pre-nursery, secondary and higher education segments," Seth Anandram Jaipuria Education Society chairman Shishir Jaipuria said here today.
With land cost becoming steeper, most of this investment would go towards purchasing land for the projects and creating the necessary infrastructure, he said.
Currently, the Society runs schools in Kanpur, Ghaziabad, Unnao, Hamirpur and Farrukhabad districts. The future projects would come both under the organic and un-organic (franchisee) routes, he informed.

"We would be opening new schools all over the state in the next few years and even look at opportunities outside UP in the educational arena," Jaipuria said adding the investment made by the franchisee partners would be in addition to the investment done directly by the Group.
While the Society already runs a management institute in Ghaziabad, it is keen on setting up more higher educational institutions going forward.
He said there was an urgent need to upgrade the quality of school education in India and it was imperative for the domestic private sector to contribute significantly to this end given the resources constraints with the government.
There are an estimated 1.4 million schools in India, including over 3,00,000 in the private sector.
