As per the agreement, RJ Corp, which will invest Rs 80-100 crore in the next five years to set up exclusive Disney Artist brand stores, will become the master franchisee of DCP.
"The tie-up is part of our efforts to expand in the kid-led family business leveraging on a brand like Disney," Ravi Jaipuria, chairman of RJ Corp, said.
The group will also be the exclusive licensee to source and market arts and crafts merchandise under the Disney Artist brand for wholesale in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Maldives.
He said the company will initially set up about five Disney Artist brand of stores in Delhi and Mumbai, which would be followed by 15 stores in the next one year.
"In five years, we are looking at about 150 stores entailing an investment of about Rs 80-100 crore," Jaipuria said.
Rajat Jain, managing director of Walt Disney India, said the deal was part of the company's plans to set up specialty stores to exploit the retail potential of India.
