Taking lead amongst the Carribean tourism boards, the Jamaica Tourist Board (JTB) will set up its first office in India and use "One Love-Jamaica", as the tag line to promote the island. |
The market for the destination has been segmented into three sections, which are as under - leisure travellers in the age group of 35 years and above, high-end MICE and young honeymoon couples. |
The board's decision comes close on the heels of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 and will organise one road show each in Mumbai and Delhi to promote the same. Five Indian tour operators-SOTC, Pyramid Travel India, Trust Travel and Tours from Mumbai and Air Cruise Travel and Friends Globe from New Delhi-have been identified by the ICC to sell packages of the event in India. |
They have already launched packages with a base package commencing from Rs 1,20,000 onwards, which will include airfare and accommodation for seven days or six nights. Jamaica has the visa-on-arrival facility subjected to the conditions of return ticket, purpose of visit and availability of funds. |
"Jamaica will make use of the World Cup West Indies, which it will host in 2007 and take this opportunity to establish itself as a true tourist destination and a good investment prospect," said David L Sheilds, deputy director tourism-marketing JTB. |
